Gideon Zadoks is a Dutch cabinet maker living in France, the work that he undertakes ranges from small pieces of bespoke furniture through to full size tree houses. He wanted to promote his work to a wider audience and approached me to create a graphic identity and website. Gideon already had a blog that he used to showcase some of his work but felt that a professional website design would be more suitable for a craftsman of his level.
The first step was to create a logo that reflected his work and values. This was achieved by using a section of wood as a background to the logo with roughly cut initials reflecting the basic nature of working with wood, the sharp square shape of the logo and formal typeface represent the order imposed on natural materials by true craftsmen.
The website itself is based on a simple black background designed to let the beautiful colours of the woodwork stand out. All elements of the website can be updated by the client himself via the website’s content management system, it also allows the client complete control of all the photography and translations used throughout the website.
